Moore County Resiliency Collaborative

Resiliency Collaborative

Our Vision: Moore County is a resilient community where all individuals thrive.

Our Mission: The mission of the Moore County Resiliency Collaborative is to educate the community on how to prevent and heal the impacts of adverse childhood experiences.

Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) are serious childhood traumas that result in toxic stress that can cause long term damage to a person’s health if not treated. ACEs may include child abuse and neglect, witnessing domestic violence, growing up with family members who have substance abuse disorders, or being homeless. Frequent or prolonged exposure to ACEs has been found to impact a person even into adulthood. The behavioral or health challenges that children face are often the symptoms of ACEs and toxic stress.

The good news is resilience can bring back health and hope! Resilience is the ability to return to being healthy and hopeful after bad things happen. Research shows that when children experience safe and nurturing relationships and learn ways to manage their emotions and behaviors in healthy ways, they can “bounce forward” after experiencing trauma and toxic stress. The Moore County Resiliency Collaborative inspires and trains leaders and caregivers throughout the community to prevent the occurrence of ACEs, build resiliency, and help children and adults heal from the long-term impacts of toxic stress.

Members of the Moore County Resiliency Collaborative are joining together to share a message of hope and support to families with young children living in our community. The following outreach flier has been developed collaboratively to reinforce these messages.
