
NC Pre-K Program
The NC Pre-K Program is designed to provide high-quality educational experiences to enhance school readiness for eligible four-year-old children.
The NC Pre-K Information:
NC Pre-K is a FREE preschool program for at-risk children. Acceptance is based on need and number of seats available NOT first come first served. NC Pre-K provides high quality pre-kindergarten classes for at-risk 4-year old through the Moore County Schools preschool program and private preschool/day care providers. Children enrolling in the NC Pre-K Program must be determined eligible, and awarded a slot by the Moore County NC Pre-K Committee. The program serves children who are 4-years-old by August 31 of the program year and are considered at risk for poor school outcomes.​​​

Eligibility Requirements for NC Pre-K:

You must be a Moore County Resident

Your child must meet one or more of the following risk factors:

Low Income
-
Chronic Health Condition as Diagnosed by a Physician

Limited English Proficiency
-
Current Individual Education Plan (IEP) for a Developmental Delay

Military
-
Your Child is NOT Currently Enrolled in a Child Care, Preschool, or Head Start Program

NC Pre-K applications are accepted throughout the calendar year. There are dates in the Spring of each year that are designated for application intake. The months of March and April will have application intake sessions at various elementary schools and other locations throughout the county. The NC Pre-K committee meets in April of each year to score and create the class rosters for the fall opening of school.
