About Dolly Parton's Imagination Library

In 1995, Dolly Parton launched Imagination Library to benefit the children of her home county in East Tennessee. Dolly’s vision was to foster a love of reading among her county’s preschool children and their families by providing them with the gift of a specially selected book each month. By mailing high quality, age-appropriate books directly to their homes, she wanted children to be excited about books and to feel the magic that books can create. Now, Partners for Children & Families is bringing this program to local families for free!

Moore County parents and guardians of children ages birth to five are eligible to register. Each month, a new, carefully selected book will be mailed to the home in the child's name in an effort to create a sense of excitement about getting new books. It generally takes 6-9 weeks from the time of enrollment until the first book is received. This program is provided at no cost to families.
