Child care rules effective October 1, 2017, require a prospective operator of a family child care home to complete the pre-licensing workshop provided by DCDEE prior to the issuance of an initial license. This new requirement will be implemented effective January 1, 2018 when DCDEE will begin offering Family Child Care Home Pre-licensing Workshops quarterly. The one-day workshop will focus on child care in North Carolina and participants will receive critical information helpful to potential family child care home operators. Prospective licensees must download, complete, and submit the pre-licensing registration form to DCDEE. The workshop will begin at 9:30 a.m. and end at approximately 3:30 p.m. Five (5) hours of training credit will be given for the training. The fee for each person attending is $50.00.
